As a Friday getaway, take a quick trip to Ao Nang Beach in Krabi Province, Thailand. They have gorgeous limestone cliffs and curious wildlife that will check you out too.

I loved Ao Nang Beach for its limestone cliffs and in off-season we had it mostly to ourselves. We headed there last August for my birthday and that is where my excitement over monkeys ended. James, however, took every opportunity to get up close and personal!

One night we arrived to the misty Ao Nang Beach.

Our first glimpse of the beach was at night and we had it all to ourselves.

Far, far too many monkeys.

Some of us were more excited than others.

And with our brief encounter we returned to our stormy beach (and hot chocolate).

Have you been? Would you hang out with the monkeys?

Like aggressive panhandlers, they are best appreciated from a distance.

True, they are more like muggers though. If they see you carrying food they will jump you for it.

What a beautiful beach! The monkeys are cute, at least. Hope they didn’t bother you the whole day, though.

I stayed a safe distance away from them and if they got too close I did some wild arm waving like a crazy person, it seemed to deter them. 🙂

You have a wonderful sit and I love the photos of the beach and monkeys. The monkeys look like they are on permanent food collecting duty. LOL!

I found your site from the coursers forums group. I have posted links for my blog and hope that you stop my.

Take care and enjoy the beach and the class.

Hi Marty!
They are definitely on permanent food collecting! The only time I didn’t see them going after food was when it was pouring.
Thanks for stopping by!

Your pictures are gorgeous and what an adventure you had! A good read too 🙂

Oh, and I’ve found out about Chiang Mai. I’m still considering whether to go for the 25th launch or the one on the 6th of November. I might just go ahead and do both since the weather is getting cold now. Which would you think is better?

Cheers!

Hi Sharilyn, so sorry for the delay in reply! I personally like the 25th event but either would be amazing. If you are town, give me a shout if you want to get a beverage.

Yes, definitely a nice relaxing trip. Have you seen any of the other islands? I still dream of Similan Island and need to get back there. 🙂
