That's me!

That’s me!

Fierytree.com began with a goal to share my overseas adventures with my friends and family at home, through pictures and text. If you have stumbled upon this blog then I welcome  you! Take a peek at SE Asia with me!

Who? What? Why?

My name is Maria and I am from the States. I set out in March 2013, with my partner James, to spend a year abroad. Our goal was to spend as much time as possible in Thailand and the neighboring countries. But like so many other travelers, the travel bug has firmly taken hold and we have no immediate plans to return.

Prior to our move I was working full-time as a Project Manager for a healthcare company, daydreaming about running away to Thailand. TEN years had passed since my first visit there and I wanted to return, and visit a few (most all) other countries.

The move became a priority when my supportive partner (with a nomadic heart), a good friend, and wanderlust pushed me to finally seek out a new continent and leave all the wonderful familiar things behind.  So far, it has been amazing!

Join me as I try to see and experience as much as possible and seek out ways to connect. A passion of mine is volunteering, which I write about exclusively at fierygivingtree.com.

If you have any suggestions or things you would like to see or hear about in SE Asia, drop me a line. I consider all requests, it is more fun to travel together!

Hi There Maria, So glad to see you are still loving it there. I really enjoy reading, seeing and learning about Thailand. Never realized there were so many different fruits I did not know about. Tom and I send our love to both you and James. Many Blessings, Pam

Yes, I’m very excited to show my mom around Thailand!
