“If we surrendered
to earth’s intelligence
we could rise up rooted, like trees.”
– Rainer Maria Rilke

I’m drawn to any quote with an aspect of nature so this prompt worked for me.
The image that came to mind was of a tree I saw growing out of a boulder in New Hampshire. I probably took five pictures (at least) of it, “overkill” to be sure and yet it concreted the image in my mind for use now. Hooray!
Today, it was nice to relax and make art. I feel like I’ve been fighting myself this week to create images and not thrilled with the results.
I enjoyed the simplicity of this drawing. I’m always amazed with how much I enjoy watercolors, when I count the class I took with watercolors a disaster.

Paper, watercolors, pen

Lesson Learned:
– Don’t outline the image with pen… before or after.
– This paper really is not sturdy enough for watercolor.

I love how resilient (and persistent) nature can be. I can understand why you photographed the bejeezus out of that tree. I love seeing a bit of green growth in places you might normally think that nothing could grow anymore. Nature just looks for and then seizes the opportunity to renew itself. Brilliant!
